ETHIOPIA SIDAMO
Gizu Zone, Orimia Regional State
Organic and Shade-Grown

This is one of the best East African coffees we've tasted in quite a while. That's saying a lot, when you consider the top notch coffees that come from Kenya and Ethiopia's Yergacheffe growing region. We are not alone in our
opinion: This Sidamo placed in the top ten at this year's Specialty Coffee Association of America's Cupping Pavilion (a competition where you will find the best coffees from around the world judged by the specialty coffee
industry's professional elite). The coffee is shade-grown in the "Guji" zone of Ethiopia's Orimia State at altitudes of up 7,000 feet (that's really high for coffee!). Much of it is harvested from wild coffee trees, which grow along side the orderly rows of planted trees - this is not an unusual occurrence in Ethiopia (coffee's birthplace), where wild, native coffee trees are commonplace. We take this coffee to a medium roast, to preserve it's delicate, floral brightness. Good body, with notes of liquorice, peach and berry.
