EL
SALVADOR-LOS ALPES (Cup of Excellence Winner)
Cacahuatique mountain range
Shade-grown Pacamara
If
you've never tasted coffee from a Pacamara tree, this 2007 El Salvador
Cup of Excellence winner is a coffee you must try. Developed in El Salvador
in 1958 as a cross between the big-beaned "Maragogype" (originally
found decades ago in Brazil) and the Salvadoran "Pacas," Pacamara
creates beautiful large beans with intense sweet flavor and full body.
This prize-winning Los Alpes is grown high in the Cacahuatique mountains
by Luis Alonso, a proud, third generation coffee farmer who embodies
El Salvador's long and storied coffee-growing history. Luis grows this
Pacamara under native pepeto and pine shade trees and sun dries the
coffee on cement patios. The result is a full-bodied, smooth coffee
with notes of sweet cocoa and spice. Limited supply; Don't miss this
one!
